16th International Film Festival of Kerala

IFFK is back!!!

A festival which brings together Trivandrum, links us natives to various parts of the world and acquaints us with cross cultural relations and gives much to ponder over is significant in yet another way according to me- it is a festival to celebrate friendship! I got my best friend Appu (Aparna) in the last year's IFFK. And its a relation to last a life time. That i can say with assurance!! And some really great movies which is sure to have an impact in our minds for a long time.. like "Biuitiful" and "Silent Souls"! The best part of it all was our hasty rush through this busy yet wonderful city which couldn't be seen devoid of the great green and white hoardings of 15th IFFK which featured numerous blown up, way larger than life size fingerprints... Even though the hasty walks were a bit unnerving at first, it all became so enjoyable by the day. Looking a year back, I'm all nostalgic and seem to miss those beautiful days. Even the climate was more enjoyable. But why should we worry.. We follow the Epicurean philosophy!! "Seize the day"!!! This time we have the whole Three Roses gang here in IFFK. Appu (Primrose- the purest one), Lakshmi (Damask Rose- the most romantic one) and me (Blue rose- the rarest one)... We'll make the most of it!!

16th IFFK colours are actually kind of cool. Red and Gray inspired by the Crow Pheasant. The trailer is also good.Actually we made it to only two films so far. So its a bit difficult to describe with accuracy the beautiful trailer. Some negative criticism about the show is the unavailability of brochures, bags and schedules on time which creates much difficulty and confusion among the delegates. How in the world are we supposed to select films?? let me make a guess.. By the name of the movie?? Well, this is a time when the movie names are self contradictory!! Remember Ghajini (the Hindi one)?? If all the films were named after villains, we would have had Mogambo, Gabbar etc. And also, I'm missing those lovely free auto rickshaws which were available for the delegates to travel free!! Can't believe how much money I spent today on auto!!

But anyway, against all odds- which may seem trivial compared to the excitement- we are really enjoying this event!! And I sure hope to be the part of it for a long while!!
